What you should listen to Wednesday!

February 5, 2014

Okay, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and tell you a few things you should listen to this week to make your life more awesome!

First of all, do you like EDM? (Electronic Dance Music for the acronymically impaired.) Do you you like supporting local artists? Yeah? Then go download this!!!

Splatinum “Funkonology”

Seriously, these guys Adam and Andrew have been bringing the Sweet and Fonky WHOMP for a while now. I first caught them live with Heavyweight Dub Champion at Nectar in Fremont. (That’s a club in a cool artsy neighborhood in Seattle, FYI.) Splatnium are fun, highly danceable  and hella clever. I keep finding new sounds and grooves whenever I listen to their music. I’m pretty sure there is some sort of sub sonic mind control algorithm going on…you literally can’t not at least tap you foot and bob your head a little.

Their newest offering is like a 13 course meal of tight glitches, slick sampling and seriously FONKY grooves. Oh, and the remix of Sade ‘Smooth Operator’? Golden…I’m listening to that as I writhe this and it’s getting harder to type because I’m being forced to get my groove on in my chair.

Go and download this. You will be asked how much you would like to pay for this record. I would say go and download it and donate a few bucks. It is worth it…and it helps a local act keep making great music. So quit talking about your ideals and start living them. Put your money where your mouth is.

Oh, and tomorrow morning from 7-9am go listen to Trent Von “Save the Wave”.  Stream it live!

Stay Tuned, Aaight?
